70th Anniversary of D-Day

If it weren't for World War II I might not have been born.  My mother met my father at Camp Grant in Rockford, Illinois while she was with the Women's Ambulance Corp, and socializing with the troops.  My father was a medical technician with the 5th Army serving the European Theatre and was briefly stationed in Camp Grant.  (The rest is history.)

My father-in-law was also in World War II in the Pacific, and was awarded a Purple Heart.  Although our parents are gone, my family has not forgotten the time and sacrifices they made for their country and their children.

The military tradition lives on as my son is a sergeant in the United States Army National Guard!
